March 6, 2012 General Membership Meeting Minutes

In attendance: Andrea Mainman, Sam Evans, Monica Gloesslein, Saad Farouqi, Karen Ray, Beth Mitchneck, Margaret Larsen, Cathy Chavez, Stan Kissinger, Park Coughran, Doug Purdom, Lydia Purdom, Roel Krabbendam, Pam Bass, Nancy Strong, Sandra Maltry, Nancy Goodman, Peter Hillman, Shelly Silverman, Naomi Weiner, Susan Costich, Kathy Ross, Amy Jobst, Heather Hiscox, Christine Thornton.

Kathy Ross called the meeting to order @ 8:05 a.m.

The minutes were approved from the February 7, 2012 meeting.

Treasurer’s report: Nancy Strong reported there has not been any significant changes to the budget, however Grad Night received several donations that are not yet reflective in the budget.  If anyone has any outstanding receipts for expenses incurred, please submit them as soon as possible for reimbursement.

Fine Arts: Andrea Mainman reported the upcoming performance of “Footloose” will be March 16 & 17 @ 7:00 p.m.  They will be selling baked goods at the performances during the intermission.  There will also be a BBQ dinner prior to the Saturday performance, tickets are $5 and they are in need of volunteers to help serve dinner for the cast during rehearsal week.  More info will be forthcoming along with a Doodle sign-up list.

Middle School: The 6th grade parents had a gathering @ The Skybox restaurant and it was well attended.

The Sip: Susan Costich reported the event was a huge success and offered a big thank you to everyone who helped with the entire effort.  There is still no final report as to how much was raised from the evening as all the financial details are still being settled.  There will be a planning and debriefing meeting to discuss plans for next year’s event soon.  More details to follow.

Grad Night: Stan Kissinger reported that all of the major venues have been decided, and they are now looking for volunteers to set-up, clean-up and chaperone the overnight experience.  There will be a meeting tomorrow evening for the parents of Seniors in the El Mirador Board Room.

Boosters: Laurie Kassman is in need of additional volunteers from each athletic group/team to help with the Hawk’s Nest.  She would like to have the Nest open for all home athletic events.  Please contact Laurie if you would like to help.

Staff Appreciation: Amy Jobst reported that the 11th grade parents helped with the “Valentine’s Day” staff luncheon and it was a huge success. The staff really appreciates all the luncheons that have occurred this year and there will be 3 more luncheons during the remainder of the school year.  The March luncheon will be hosted by the 10th grade class, April will be 9th grade class, and the May luncheon will be hosted by the FA Board.

Shop-n-Give: Cathy Chavez requested that people please sign-up for the Safeway Shop-n-Give program because the funds add up quickly and effortlessly.  The funds raised from the various Shop-n-give programs go towards mini-grants for the Advisory Programsl..

Development:  Heather Hiscox thanked everyone that supported The Sip and reported there will be fundraising results by the end of the week.

Nominating Chair: Nancy Goodman reported that she is encouraging people to get involved and consider volunteering for large and/or small jobs that are available for the upcoming school year.  Please contact her if you are interested.

Admissions: Christine Thornton announced that there will be a St. Gregory booth at the “Festival of Books” this weekend and they are in need of volunteers to work at the booth. Please contact her if you are interested.

No unfinished business.

New business:  Upcoming events:  March 19th Fundraiser at Zin Burger on Grant, and April 20th FA sponsored family BBQ dinner and Fine Arts performances at school.

The next FA General Meeting will be Tuesday, April 10, 2012 @ noon in the El Mirador Board Room.

Meeting adjourned @ 8:30 a.m.

Board of Trustees: Shelly Silverman introduced Steven Diciccio, with Educational Consultants, the search committee retained by St. Gregory to assist with the placement of a new Headmaster.  Steven spoke briefly about the role he will be playing during the search effort and what the process will be.  Questions and discussion were held afterwards.
